Playing for over fifteen years, and teaching for around six, I studied at the Guitar Institute of Technology in London under acoustic maestro Eric Roche (who also taught chart act Newton Faulkner, amongst others). This proved to me the worth of good tuition, as well as being an invaluable experience, not only for learning to play, but also how to teach. In 2003, I became a Peripatetic Tutor for Essex Music Services (which includes vetting by the Criminal Records Bureau). In the first term alone, I was visiting ten schools across Essex, seeing some eighty pupils weekly. This was in addition to my private practice, serving students across Essex and Suffolk. I have also been the Peripatetic Guitar Tutor at St Margaret's Preparatory School, Gosfield, teaching electric, bass, and classical guitar, as well as successfully running the School Rock Band. Being a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors, I can offer students training for their recognised qualifications; I also cater for Rockschool grades.

But it's not all theory, as I have often strode the live stage; for example, my first live performance was to an audience of over two thousand, with the gig being webcast around the world. In original bands, such as Last Minute, and Rocket, I not only played, but sang & wrote as well. As a consequence, I have played to audiences of all sizes in locations across the country. I have also collaborated with and depped for bands on an ad hoc basis, lending me exposure to different styles. That said, my greatest loves remain blues (in all its shades) and rock.

All of this means that I am no stranger to the recording studio, something I have supplemented with continuing studies of recording & production, both with time spent at the London Centre for Contemporary Music, and privately. Utilising this knowledge, plus the software and equipment I use for all of my lessons, I can record and produce students to a high standard. Examples can be found in the AUDIO section of the DOWNLOADS page.
